About Lucy & her Work

About the Work

Acoustic observation often happens subconsciously.

We learn by listening long before we understand, using sound to build a map of how the world works and how we fit within it. This information informs our thoughts, behaviours and actions now and in the future.

The Approach

This site is a collection of “watchful waiting” and deliberate curiosity. It’s a space where I’ve captured sounds, places, or objects that spark my interest—sometimes by simply setting up a microphone and noticing what happens, and other times by curating sounds into compositions that depict my own version of the sonic landscape.

Some of these recordings go beyond unaided perception, using instruments to detect sounds outside the range of human hearing. Whether it is a raw field recording or a curated piece, this work is how I interact with and understand the world around me.

Field Notes

This is a place for me to share these experiences, showing my working processes and the realities of field recording through my field notes, sonic tests and finished bodies of work.
